Without further ado: Press the Option key while clicking on the WiFi icon on the top bar. There, this will give you the link speed in WiFi.

Rational

In the old days the venerable NetWork Utility used to give the user that answer straightforward.

However, starting from BigSur (Nov 2020), the practical utility has been deprecated. So … how do we do then? How do we get the link speed of the WiFi connection? Legend will tell you to use the terminal comand line, however ifconfig won’t help you.

Maybe System Report, right? Sort of!

WiFi diagnostics won’t help either.

So after a lot of thinking, the Mac way should be easy and straightforward. Since I’ve been a MacUser longer that I wish to admit, by intuitively pressing the option key while clicking on the WiFi icon on the top bar, I got my answer. See initial screen capture on top.
